Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Steve’s Auto Repair

In Boy Scouts, Boys and Girls Club, Community Involvement by Steves Auto Repair and Tire

We’d like to thank everybody who came to have their vehicle serviced at Steve’s Auto Repair & Tire. Thank you for trusting us in servicing your vehicles.

We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

How we give back to the community

One of the things that we are proud of, this year, is being able to give back to the community through various organizations, including the Boys & Girls Clubs.

We have been able to provide the Boys & Girls Clubs with free oil changes and inspections, which allows us to do a safety check on those vehicles every time they come in. This helps keep them on the road and makes sure the kids have a safe place to go.

In our support of What’s Up Prince William, we have been able to talk about the good things going on in our community and talk about other local non-profits that would not normally have a voice or a place to share their information.

Along with another auto repair shop, we were able to do more than $64,000 of in-kind services through What’s Up Prince William.

As part of our community support, we’re getting ready to host the Cub Scout Pinewood Derby workshop. The program allows families and the pack to come in and work on the cars together.

Knowing that a lot of people live in apartments and town homes or may not have the necessary tools, for many years we have opened up our shop to allow the parents and kids to work on those projects.

Speed signs remind drivers to slow down

In Community Involvement by Steves Auto Repair and Tire

Of course this video was meant to be silly.

However, there is an issue with people speeding through neighborhoods, especially those that connect with the Prince William Parkway, Route 234, Dale Boulevard and Hoadly Road.

The speed warning sign, like the one here on Hillendale Road, may not stop people from speeding. But it is a good reminder if you’re coming into a neighborhood from one of those major roads to lower your speed.

Impact of speed signs

Ever since the speed signs were put up, you can tell that traffic is a bit more controlled. I’ve been coming down this road for 20 years, and once those signs went up, it was a nice reminder for me to keep my speed down — as it is for many other drivers.

Fortunately, Supervisor Victor Angry has taken this issue to heart, and he has talked with us about his plan to bring traffic calming devices to the neighborhoods of the Neabsco District. He believes the devices will help improve safety for members of the community, especially the kids.

In Community Involvement by Steves Auto Repair and Tire

This year, Steve’s Auto Repair & Tire in Woodbridge has been voted “Best Auto Repair Shop” in InsideNOVA’s 2019 Best of Prince William.

Voting through Best of Prince William allows for members of the community to show their support for local businesses and non-profits.

Steve’s Auto Repair & Tire wants to thank everyone who was a part of making this award possible. Without your support we would never have been selected as the ‘Best Auto Repair Shop.’  We are honored that we were voted ‘Best Auto Repair Shop’ for the second consecutive year. Thank you to all of our supporters.

Steve’s Auto Repair and Tire covering employees’ health care

In Community Involvement by Steves Auto Repair and Tire

Steve’s Auto Repair & Tire is making health care more affordable for its employees.

On December 1, the Woodbridge-based automotive repair shop started paying 100 percent of the basic health insurance plan.

“Small businesses are finding it more difficult to attract and retain qualified employees. The rising cost of health care is contributing to the issue,” Steve’s Auto Repair & Tire Owner Scott Whitling said. “We thought, ‘What could we do to be more marketable in our industry and do something that would benefit the employees?’”

This is enabling an employee to purchase health insurance for his two children.

Employees of Steve’s Auto Repair & Tire also received more Paid Time Off (PTO) days that can be used if they’re sick or they need to care for family members.
