Automatic Transmission Repair
and Replacement
Steve's Auto Repair and Tire
You need your automatic transmission working properly in order to keep your car on the road, but sometimes things happen. And when they do, that‘s when you need Steve‘s Auto Repair & Tire and Jasper Engines to help out.
While automatic transmissions have come a long way over the years, many of them still have multiple design flaws that can lead to damage or failure. When working with a dealership or Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), they will only do approved repairs and replace the failed parts in the automatic transition. Also, while most rebuilders will only find the problem and replace anything that‘s worn out, they won‘t investigate to find the root cause. This means you‘ll likely end up with the same problem with your auto transmission over time.
But when you work with Jasper Engines, they‘ll do so much more.
Jasper Engines will completely redesign parts of the transmission that have high failure rates, to make sure that your automatic transmission is coming back to you as an upgrade from the original. They actually work with parts manufacturers – including aftermarket and OEM for several car companies – to get them to redesign and remanufacture parts for your automatic transmission.
There are also things you should know about the maintenance of automatic transmissions that can prevent some issues. A lot of manufacturers like to hype that they have lifetime or 100,000 mile transmission fluid. According to Jasper Engines, that isn‘t realistic, and it‘s not good for your car. Around every 30,000 miles you should be getting a transmission fluid exchange in your vehicle in order to keep it in good shape.
Let‘s talk about some other ways that Jasper Engines has helped improve automatic transmissions.
A common problem they see is a loss of reverse, which can be because the sun shell breaks in the transmission. This happened with some GM transmissions. While GM came in and made the sun shell thicker – which did help – it still was leading to wear and breaking over time. Jasper Engines actually did a thorough investigation of the transmission and found that the sun shell wasn‘t the root of the problem – it was actually the pressure regulator valve and the valve body. By finding this they were able to go in and add GM‘s new sun shell to customers‘ vehicles, but they also went that extra step to fix the valve issues and eliminate the wear that was causing the issue.
This is a common theme with Jasper Engines – they go the extra mile for their customers. This is why we‘re proud to use their services at Steve‘s Auto Repair & Tire. If you have any questions about automatic transmissions or Jasper, our staff will be happy to speak with you.
